![]() Better yet, leaning into the world of online reviews might be the only marketing plan a small business needs these days.Yelp is the go-to review site for businesses, especially those in the services and hospitality sector. Word of mouth happens online now, and small businesses finally get to add their voices to the conversation. If you run a small business, it’s time to embrace online review sites and use them to your advantage. Engaging with dissatisfied customers in online review forums can actually lead to repeat business, and up to 70% of complaining customers will give the business another shot if their concerns are resolved. Small businesses can use online reviews to uncover any legitimate blind spots and show acts of good faith for all the public to see. In the past, dissatisfied customers might not even fill out a comment card - they’d just lambaste the business via word of mouth, and the owner might never know anything was wrong. Everyone has a bad day, and business owners deserve to know when something’s wrong. Second, small businesses can turn negative reviews into a second chance. This activates the business’ happiest customers, buries any unfair negative reviews and ensures that the company’s “ review ratio ” is healthy. First, they can proactively encourage their customers to post reviews about their experience - 68% of customers will leave a review if asked. Small businesses have more control of their online star ratings than they know. If you run a small business, the very best thing you can do to attract more customers is to maintain a high star-rating on the most popular review sites. That’s good news because 90% of customers say that what they decide to buy is influenced by positive online reviews, and 94% will use a business with at least four stars. In truth, two-thirds of all Yelp reviews are four or five stars, meaning most customers are logging on specifically to rave about their great experiences with local businesses. While there are certainly internet trolls out there, one of the great myths about online reviews is they’re all bad. Review sites are at the epicenter of “near me” searches. ![]() This is the new normal: 97% of consumers use the internet to find local businesses, and one in eight search online for a nearby business every single day. When you’re looking to try a new restaurant or find a mechanic, what do you do? You might get a recommendation from friends or family, but you probably also do a “ near me ” search on Yelp, Google or OpenTable. That’s an invaluable opportunity for small businesses with tight - or non-existent - marketing budgets. If traditional advertising is a megaphone that enables businesses to shout and see who’s listening, review sites are tractor beams that pull consumers toward local businesses precisely when they’re actively looking to spend money. When a consumer uses a review platform like Yelp or Google My Business, the decision and urgency to buy are exactly what prompted the person’s search. If you buy a radio ad, for example, the message has to do two hard jobs: Convince the customer to spend money with you and create urgency to do it now, before distractions take over. In the past, small businesses had to rely on inefficient “push” methods to attract new customers. Online Review Sites Are A Tractor Beam For Customers The days of window shopping and scanning the Yellow Pages are over. ![]() Consumers are using the internet to figure out where they want to spend money locally before they go there, and their visits are increasingly prompted by real and urgent purchasing intent. ![]() Foot traffic to retail businesses is down 57% in the past five years, but the value of every visit has tripled.įor small businesses, this means the iconic physical storefront has been replaced by many digital ones. About 90% of global sales still happen in physical stores, but 97% of consumers use the internet to find local businesses and three in four people who use their smartphones to search for something nearby end up visiting a local business within a day. This dramatic shift in technology adoption has led to similarly dramatic shifts in consumer behavior. Everyone has the internet in their pocket all the time, and this changes everything for small businesses. has doubled since 2001 to nearly 300 million users, and smartphone penetration has risen from 20% in 2010 to 69% in 2017 among American consumers. More on that soon, but first, let’s take a quick look at how technology has transported the classic small business storefront onto the internet.Įven the busiest business owner must recognize that access to real-time information has exploded. In fact, if you run a small business today, the single most important thing you can do to attract new customers is to take control of your online review score on sites like Yelp, Google My Business, FourSquare and TripAdvisor. ![]() The Micro+ is made of stainless steel - the design features a ceramic-lined outer layer over the quartz heating element. When we go through Scriptures, we see one type of fast that has become popular in some Christian circles – the Daniel fast. This last type of fast is called the Daniel fast and we’ll tell you why it’s called that and how to use it in your fellowship with God. And for another type of fast, it may be eating only vegetables and water with no extra diet for a period of time. We see the extended form of this type of fast with Moses, Elijah, and Jesus.Īt other times, a fast may be abstinence from only food for varying lengths of time. Sometimes, people fast by abstaining from food and water totally for varying periods of time. See Also: 10 Scriptures For Weight lossand Words Of Encouragement. So, fasting is very much valid for the modern Christian as well. For instance,Īct 13:2 While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, “Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.” ![]() The Bible records many other instances where the early believers fasted. It is also important to know that fasting did not end with Jesus’ resurrection and propitiation as many have erroneously believed. Mat 4:4 …“It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.’” Fasting is a spiritual exercise worthy of emulation. It is a worthwhile and noble act to fast in order to break the limit to interacting with God, in a bid to see more clearly. ![]() Whether people were having a fast because of a depressing situation, like Esther, or they were doing it out of a desire to get answers, like Daniel, it was all channeled toward God. They embarked on a spiritual journey that was physically validated. The Scriptures mention a few times men and women sought to seek God with a hunger that was spiritual yet physically exerted. Every time people fasted, it had always been with the same goal in mind – to draw closer to God. ![]() The principle of fasting is one that is consistently observed throughout the Scriptures. River Islands is also preparing to submit plans for its first 220-unit apartment complex. The laws require such older neighborhood ADU projects to be exempt from growth-related fees - or pay sharply reduced fees - given such housing piggybacks on established infrastructure such as main lines for sewer, water, and storm systems as well as streets. ![]() State law now allows an existing house - such as the so-called McMansions that are in excess of 4,000 square feet, to be reconfigured to allow for up to three of four sperate living areas complete with their own kitchens and restrooms and separate entrances. Typically the Manteca-Lathrop-Tracy-Mountain House area has new home neighborhoods where more than one unrelated family are living under the same roof are in houses with larger footprints. The ADU concept incorporated into a new home takes it to the next level where there are two sperate living quarters for two households.Īnd because state law haws essentially eliminated the idea of single family home zoning meaning building a home designed for one household only, the development that River Islands hopes to break ground on early next year and be renting in late 2024 is legal.Īctually, federal fair housing laws for years have precluded local government from somehow enforcing a perceived rule that only one family can live in a house designed as a single family home. When your solar energy system produces more energy than your home uses, the excess energy is sent straight to the power grid. Net metering is a policy that offers customers a way to lower their energy costs or completely offset their electric bills by providing extra electricity to the grid. Georgia Net MeteringĪs of 2022, no Georgia utility company offers net metering. ![]() So, Georgia homeowners will have an increase in their home’s value and higher property taxes after installing a solar energy system. Unfortunately, Georgia doesn’t provide solar property tax exemption. Generally, any home improvement increases the value of your home, therefore increasing property taxes. Like sales tax exemptions, many states offer solar property tax exemptions. Based on the average cost of solar in the state ($28,050), homeowners should expect to pay around $1,100 in sales tax. However, Georgia homeowners should budget for more money to devote toward sales tax. Sales tax can account for a sizeable portion of your final cost, so being exempt is handy. Georgia Solar Sales Tax ExemptionĪlthough multiple states offer a sales tax exemption as an additional enticement to go solar, Georgia provides nothing. The reason: It’s offering a big promotion for its VIP customers likely to take my estimated, post-discount 7 bps take on spot trading-its most lucrative category-a lot lower. This writer, however, finds reason to believe that Binance’s revenues are actually well below $5 billion. ![]() Using the same analysis, the number in the peak year of 2021 would have been closer to $10 billion. If so, the revenues from the former are running at $2 billion, and from the latter at $2.8 billion. By Fortune’s estimate, the fees it actually collects, after those steep discounts, might be 7 bps for spot and 2 bps for futures. Over the past four months, Binance has done an annualized $2.8 trillion in spot transactions, and $14 trillion in futures. Holding BNB in your account, and doing lots of trading, garners further reductions that can take fees down far more than 50% off the top posted rates. For example, a fund or market maker that pays with its native BNB coin gets 25% off on spot transactions, and a 10% reduction on futures. But it offers huge discounts for major customers under its “VIP” program. Binance earns a maximum 10 basis points, or one-tenth of 1% on spot trades, and between 2 and 4 bps on futures. Let’s see what the current annual run rate of $16.8 billion, as shown in the CCData figures, might mean for Binance’s revenues. We simply don’t know how much including the business from its largest customers would have increased the implied total. ![]() This doesn’t mean the Journal’s numbers are incorrect. In May, CCData posits that Binance did $1.3 trillion in trades, three times the number derived from the Journal’s reporting that China accounted for 20% of Binance’s volume that month. What Binance’s falling volumes could mean for revenues-and BNB Keep in mind that Binance is now capturing a smaller piece of a pie that’s much reduced from either 2022 or even the first quarter of this year. After hitting 55% in spot and 65% for futures in February, its shares dropped respectively to 40% and 56% in July. Its annualized volumes slowed to $16.8 billion a year, down around 28% from both the first three months of this year, and measured against 2022. The turning point came in March, when Binance ended a promotion, started in July of last year, allowing spot customers to buy and sell Bitcoin, using the most prominent coins, at a zero fee.įrom the start of April through the end of July, Binance suffered a dramatic downshift in horsepower. From January through March, Binance’s trading defied the downturn by running at the same yearly dollar rate as in 2022. But Binance got a big boost via the collapse of its premier global competitor, FTX. In 2023, the scale of all global transactions kept falling. Though Binance slightly grew its share, the overall retreat lowered its take by 26% to $23.3 trillion. Volumes fell by over one-third to $48.7 trillion. The frenzy cooled considerably last year. Binance captured an incredible $31.7 trillion, or 43% of those trades. In 2021, digital currency transactions boomed, reaching $74 trillion for the year, according to CCData numbers. So the all-in China number is bigger than $90 billion. The piece notes that the $90 billion figure for China “ trades made by a subset of very large traders.” It doesn’t take a stab at estimating how much crypto those whales are buying and selling on Binance. The Journal, however, adds an important proviso. This is an astoundingly low number that would signal a recent collapse in Binance’s revenues, and a strong probability it’s already booking losses. Hence, on an annualized basis, Binance’s sales would be running at around $5.4 trillion (12 months x $450 billion). The story specifies that the $90 billion comprises both spot and futures transactions, the latter the most important contributor by far. ![]() The Journal’s finding that China’s $90 billion in trading for May accounted for one-fifth of Binance’s overall business implies that its volumes for the month totaled $450 billion. ![]() And its capital rests primarily in a self-issued, relatively little-traded coin that-if Binance sells it to meet operating expenses-is vulnerable to a deep dive that could rock the crypto world. If Binance can’t collect enough revenue to cover its rent, personnel, data center, compliance, and marketing costs, it will need to start exhausting its war chest to meet the shortfall. The mystery centers on whether the damage is so severe that Binance, which CZ declares is “still profitable,” will soon start losing money. Still, it’s clear that double hit from legal crackdowns targeting Binance and steep drop in overall trading of digital currencies has hammered the exchange’s volumes. ![]() Tap ⑦ to switch from Canvas mode to Reference Mode.
